Donna Young's Resources: 
FREE printables and basic ideas for homeschool.  I've used a lot of the same ideas, and wish I would have known about this and I could have just "click,print!" instead of making my own!  I'm planning to print out the attendance record for sure as I needed something to help keep me organized with this! 

First-School Preschool Activities and Crafts:
First-School features free fun preschool lesson plans, educational early childhood activities, printable crafts, worksheets, calendar of events and other resources for children of preschool age. The preschool crafts, lesson plans and activities are appropriate and adaptable for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten level (ages 2 to 6).
First-School's content is ideal for home schooling, preschool and kindergarten teachers, daycare, child care providers, after-school and babysitters.

Worksheet Works: Website to build worksheets, custom build your worksheet to tailor it to your child's needs.

Sight Words: List complied by e.W. dolch in 1936.  Contains 220 commonly used words that should be recognized by "sight" for fast or "fluent" reading.  the compilation excludes nouns, which comprise a separate 95-word list.  Many of these words cannot be 'sounded out."  They should be learned by sight.

Spelling City: A free interactive resource for spelling and vocabulary that offers games, activites, printables and tests.

Free Learning games Online: Excellent site for preK thru 6th grade.  Offers free printables, instructional videos and ebooks.

Starfall Reading and Math: Pre-K thru 3rd grade interactive reading site.  Letter reognition, phonics, ebooks, seasonal games, songs, and activities.  Recently lauched a math section.  Easy to navigate, kid-friendly.

Science
BBC Schools Science Clips is afree virtual lab.  Lessons, experiments, interactive learning and quizzes for preK-6th grade.  Easy navigate, kid-friendly. (Need flash player)

Enchanted Learning: PreK thru Middle School Activities, Worksheets, Encyclopedia: Enchanted Learning has free printables, activities, etc. across the curriculum.  memberships are offered access to all content, but a lot is free and at least viewable.

Internet4Classrooms: Grade level skill Practice for all subjects preK thru 8th grade.  Flash games, skill practice, videos, interactive learning fun!

WatchKnowLearn: free educational videos, organized by category including core standards.  Looks like a new site, still being put together.

Testing Info:  North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) has a detailed list of testing resources.  They also have a Facebook page that is great for support/questions.

Bayside School Services:  Testing: Terra Nova:  Standardized Test used nationally and by DOD schools.  Available in NC for off-post families from Bayside School Services for $50-55.  Offer both long form and shortened survey versions of tests.  No training or degree is required on the part of the homeschool parent.  Order and send test back to be scored.  Limited scholarships available.

National Standards:  The common core standards have been adopted by all but five states.  NC has already adopted the Common Core Standards.
